Morning Run

I ran this morning in Ticonderoga, NY. I headed north with the Adirondack mountains dark and looming on my left shoulder and the fields, valley, lake and off to the east, the dark outline of the mountains of Vermont. I love running in the early morning. It's like having the world to yourself.

The light was coming up behind the mountains in Vermont, like stage lighting coming up. As I turned to head back south the sun broke over the top of the mountains. The frozen fields now on my left were all glittery. I finished my run smiling like a fool - I'm sure the people driving by on their way to work thought I was deranged.
